The Student Senate was founded in 1968 to represent the student population.

The Senates purpose is to further student interest and facilitate leadership by:

• Providing direct input into polices relating to academic affairs and student life
• Providing student input into available campus services and activities
• Providing meaningful educational, social, cultural, and service opportunities for students
• Fostering constructive communication and interaction among the different segments of the campus community

The Student Senate is governed by its own Executive Officers and legislation polices.
