Hello everyone,
The System Rules Committee met last
Friday, April 15, in Versailles. The
agenda included seven action items, all of which passed.
- Proposed Change Section VI
Appendix A Guide for CLEP General Exams. The chart had not been updated for
several years and the revisions are more in line with current
curriculum.
- Proposed Change Section VI
Appendix B Guide for Advanced Placement. This change brings the KCTCS
Senate Rules into compliance with Kentucky
State law which
requires all Kentucky public
colleges to award credit for scores of 3 or higher on the Advanced Placement
Exams.
- Proposed Change Section VI
Appendix E d. Academic/Career Mobility Nursing Program. This change
affects Southeast Kentucky Community and Tech College who offer
a bridge course. The revision was submitted in order to be in compliance
with the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
- Proposed Change Section IV 3.9.1
Physical Therapist Assistant Program. Among the several changes in this
rule were the inclusion of the SAT (previously students who had only the SAT
could not apply for the program); name changes for several colleges to reflect
their new names, and course number changes to reflect their new numbers and
prefixes.
- Proposed Change Section III 6.0
Courses Offered in Both the University of Kentucky and
Lexington
Community
College. This change reflects the
agreement stating that LCC students who complete the associate degree program
on or before August 31, 2010, shall
have their degrees conferred by the UK Board of Trustees.
Lexington is
“grandfathered in” (as we were before KCTCS) until 2010.
- Proposed Change Section III 2.2.
New Curriculum or Curriculum Modification. This rule states “A list of
all courses not offered by any KCTCS community college during a two-year
period will be submitted to the Curriculum Review Committee for approval to be
removed from the KCTCS catalog.” This rule change came from
Council.
- Proposed Change Section IV 3.19
Nuclear Medicine Technology Program. The system guidelines for NMT that
originated at Jefferson
passed. There was a question as to where the local guidelines were
located, and I informed the committee that they will be voted on by our
faculty at our next faculty meeting.
All of these proposals will be voted
on by System Council in May. In addition, the Nursing Rules Change for
Jefferson (previously
voted down by System Council) has been amended and will be before council again
in May.
If you have any questions, please
feel free to contact me. Thanks for your support this year; I have placed
my “two-year dot” on E-bay if anyone is interested. Opening bid is
$1.J
Respectfully,
