Students are admitted to the Radiography Program
once a year, in the fall semester. It is the responsibility of the applicant
to ensure that the following credentials are on file at the Downtown
Admissions Office no later than March 1st:
Procedure I:
1. Complete the American College Test (ACT) or the COMPASS exam. First-time
college students must take the ACT or COMPASS exam. Allow 4 - 6 weeks
from test date for the ACT results to be returned to Jefferson Community and Technical College. Students who have not completed their ACT must take the COMPASS
exam. COMPASS testing dates are available in the JCTC Assessment Center.

2. Each applicant must submit the following credentials by March
1: American College Test (ACTE) or Compass score reports: minimum
scores for admission to the program are ACTE – Composite of
18, or COMPASS: Reading -76 Writing –57 Algebra –35.
3. Complete an official application to Jefferson Community and Technical College.
Mail the completed official JCTC Application Form to the Admissions/Records
office, NOT to the Allied Health Division Office. Official applications
sent to the Allied Health Division Office will not be forwarded to
Admissions. Address: Admissions/Records Department, Jefferson Community and Technical College, 109 E Broadway, Louisville, KY 40202.
4. Request and submit an official high school transcript or GED certificate.
Note: The submission of a high school transcript or GED Certificate
pertains to first-time college students. A high school transcript
or GED is not required for students transferring to JCTC from another
college or university.
5. Request that the registrar of each institution previously attended
forward to the JCTC registrar an official transcript of all college
work completed or work in progress. The transcript must be forwarded
to the Admission/Records Office, Jefferson Community and Technical College, 109
E. Broadway, Louisville, KY 40202. Note: A sealed official transcript
issued to a student or submitted by a student will NOT be accepted
by the JCTC registrar.
Procedure II:
1. Attend a Radiography advising conference. No appointment
is required. All advising conference dates and times are listed in
the below paragraph. Select ONE date & time. All advising conferences
are held at Jefferson Community and Technical College, Downtown Campus, 109 E Broadway,
Louisville, KY 40202.
During this session, you will complete the RAD TECH
selective admission application form. Select ONE date.
Please bring a photo copy of all college transcripts to the
advising conference at Jefferson Community and Technical
College, Downtown Campus, VTI or LV building on corner of
2nd & Chestnut. Check with the division secretary for
more information about the dates.
2. A student declaring candidacy for fall admission must attend an
advising conference prior to March 1. If you wish to roll-over your application to the next academic
year, please call a program faculty member.
3. What do I bring to the advising conference?
• Submit a transcript (issued to the student) in a sealed envelope,
of all college work completed or work in progress. A photocopy of
the official transcript is permissible and is a requirement for ALL
students.
• Submit a photocopy of any official grade not reported on the
official transcript.
• Paper and pen to take notes
4. What tasks will I accomplish during the advising conference?
• Each participant will complete an official program application
form. Note: An application to Jefferson Community and Technical College is NOT an
application to the Radiography Program.
• Each participant will assist in completing his/her transcript
evaluation form.
• Each participant will develop a plan or schedule for completing
the program prerequisites.
5. A student must submit a written statement verifying a minimum of
four hours of observation/work experience in a radiology department.
This observation must be completed prior to acceptance into the program.
Note: Prior to conducting your clinical observation, hospitals may
require proof of a PPD skin test or other immunization records. The
student is responsible for any expense associated with immunization
testing. Submission of such records may be required before an observation
appointment is scheduled. Please contact a program faculty member
for assistance in scheduling your observation appointment.
6. Each program applicant is responsible for keeping his/her radiology
file up-to-date. Important updates include new grades, phone, mailing
address, and preferred e-mail address, etc.
